A brand born from a simple intuition: natural cosmetics can be desirable.
basic. started in Lausanne, with two people and one question: why do you always have to choose between efficiency, ecology, and pleasure of use? We didn't find a satisfactory answer. So we tried to offer one.

The Beginning
2018
It all starts with a kitchen.
Raluca and Sébastien are launching basic. with a strong conviction: what you put on your skin should be as simple to understand as what you put on your plate. Their first deodorants were handcrafted, the first recipes were tested on themselves, and the first customers – often friends – asked questions, identified what worked and what didn't work as well.
No business plan, no marketing promises. Just the desire to do better.
The system
2020-2025
From artisan balm to the refillable system.
Five years to turn a good idea into a coherent brand. The range is refined - deodorants, lip balms, face serums and body oils - always formulated in Lausanne, while progressively reducing single-use plastic.
In 2023, the collaboration with KIIMA gave rise to the refillable single-material system. A reusable applicator designed to last, with refills that slide in within seconds. It has become a basic. signature.
The efficacy of the deodorant balm was tested by Eurofins Dermscan. Proof that natural and effective can go hand in hand.

2026
Verònica joins basic.
In January 2026, Verònica joined the adventure as co-owner and laboratory manager. Verònica didn't come empty-handed: she used to run Alvean Natural Cosmetics, her own natural cosmetics brand which she co-built, formulated, and grew according to her own high standards.
When two brand founders decide to merge their visions, it's rarely a practical decision - it's a fundamental one. Three people aligned on the same principles: high standards, transparency, performance, with no compromises on natural ingredients.

Verònica founded and managed Alvean Natural Cosmétique before joining basic. in January 2026. As co-owner and lab manager, she formulates, tests, and supervises the production of every product that leaves the workshop.
our commitments
on ne fait pas de la cosmétique pour changer le monde. on en fait pour que ce que tu mets sur ta peau soit vraiment bien. simple, sain, efficace.
la cosmétique devrait être simple. des formules courtes, des ingrédients qu'on comprend, des produits qu'on a envie de garder. pas de promesses magiques, pas de marketing qui en fait des tonnes. juste des soins bien faits, pensés pour les gens qui les utilisent. c'est la base. et c'est exactement ce qu'on fait chez basic.
ce qu'on fait, concrètement
chaque ingrédient a une fonction. pas de remplissage, pas de marketing dans la liste INCI. on utilise entre 6 et 15 ingrédients par produit - tous naturels, à base d'ingrédients certifiés bio. tu peux les lire et les comprendre.
chaque produit basic. est formulé et fabriqué artisanalement par notre équipe. on pèse, on mélange, on coule, on étiquette. c'est notre nom sur le pot - on sait exactement ce qu'il y a dedans.
aucun test sur les animaux, aucun ingrédient d'origine animale. c'est une certification vérifiable, pas un autocollant qu'on s'est mis tout seul. on croit qu'on peut faire des bons produits sans compromettre là-dessus.
our deodorants and lip balms are designed to last. a rechargeable aluminium case, refills to reduce waste. simple. boîtier que tu gardes, des recharges que tu changes. moins de déchets, plus de logique. on ne vend pas du jetable déguisé en durable.
pas de superlatifs dans nos textes, pas d'ingrédients inutiles dans nos formules, pas de packaging qui en fait des tonnes. on préfère en faire moins, mais bien. c'est notre façon de respecter les gens qui nous font confiance.
on dit ce qu'on fait et on fait ce qu'on dit. pas de claims qu'on ne peut pas prouver, pas de pourcentages sortis de nulle part. si on ne sait pas, on le dit. si c'est pas parfait, on ne prétend pas le contraire.
on ne prétend pas révolutionner quoi que ce soit. on fait juste des produits qu'on utilise nous-mêmes, qu'on donne à nos proches, et qu'on est fiers de signer. c'est aussi simple que ça.
